I will have 5 new paintings in the upcoming Art at the Mill show in Millwood, VA next month. Actually the show opens next weekend. I was very honored to have all 5 of my pieces accepted.
The Mill show is one of the premier art shows in our area. For more information click on this link to the Burwell-Morgan Mill. The venue for the show is an operational gristmill built in 1785.
All of my paintings are of wolves and I will post one here to let you see what I have been painting.
I work in pastel on suede matt board. How big should I go to get my fur to look more realistic?
I have tried to work on pastelmat as well.
regards,

Hi Catherine!
I make most of my paintings under 16 x20. I find that this is a good size to accurately depict the fur. Some of mine are much smaller. In fact, I think I am overall working smaller than I did in the beginning.
I have not used sued board but I have used pastel mat. I didn’t like it as much as the velour. I have the velour dry mounted onto museum board so it is probably similar. Have you been to Lesley Harrison’s blog at http://www.lesleyharrison.net? You will love it. Let me know if you have more questions and thanks for writing!
