Here is the finished painting:
I continued to add darks and lights on top. I also finished the background. I wanted a feeling of fall so I added oranges along with the greens. I also added warm colors in the nose to bring it forward in the space. I know it all looks black to you ,but the warmer colors help to move areas forward. As artists we work in 2 dimensions , so we have to use other means to create dimension. I think I love that most of all. I am particularly fond of using color to advance or recede areas. Color also creates feeling and influences mood. The autumn colors contribute to the feeling that Summer is fading and fall is on the way.
I used mostly NuPastels to make this painting. In the background I used softer Rembrandts for better blending.
