I finally have a break in my schedule and have had time to paint my favorite subject-wolves. It has been awhile since I have had time to paint a painting “just for me”. This wolf will eventually be white when finished, but I need to add adequate layers of colors underneath to support the beautiful hairs that will go on top. I began with a drawing in pencil and charcoal on light gray velour paper. 
I also added some white pastel at the edges of fur that will be light so that it will show when the background is added. Next I added a base on the wolf of a medium gray and spent quite a bit of time working on the eyes. I also painted the nose. I added the background next. I will begin to add more color to the fur next.
